Non Scale Victory and Weigh-in

Hey everyone! It's weigh-in day! I'm happy to let you all know I lost that 1 pound I gained last week and I'm back to 156lbs!

Now to some non scale victories! I try to make myself focus on non scale victories a lot,  I have a tendancy to get hung up on the number on the scale, but it's important to realize it's not all about that number. The number on the scale doesn't always reflect how well you are doing in your weight loss journey.

I first learned about non scale victories when I did Weight Watchers in college, I used their communities boards a lot and people were always talking about NSV (non scale victory), a non scale victory can be anything.. maybe someone complimented you on your weight loss or even if you said "no" to a piece of chocolate cake! I think we all need to focus more on these little (or big) victories!

This week I'm visiting my family. They all complimented me on how "skinny" I look, they still can't get over it. It's such a great feeling to hear people recognize how hard you are working and how well it is working!

My Mom took me new clothes shopping for an early birthday present. I'm in need of some new clothes! It's super exciting, but also kind of annoying since getting new clothes all of the time can quickly add up to a lot of money. Anyways we went to Label Shopper, which is pretty much like a TJ Maxx or Marshalls. I was able to get a ton of cute clothes and the best part is... they were all size SMALL!!!  And I got a pair of American Eagle jeans in size 8!!!

Green Bean Fries and weigh-in

So its weigh-in day... I gained a pound, doesn't surprise me since I ate so poorly. All I can do is try harder this week. Wish me luck! Now for a recipe that can help satisfy those cravings...

It's important to get veggies into our diets...but sometimes it's hard to do that! Sometimes you just want some fries right?

Then make yourself some Green Bean Fries!

I started making these this past summer after getting a good deal on green beans at the farmer's market. They are so easy to make and delicious and healthy!!!

Green Bean Fries

Ingredients:
Green Beans (fresh or frozen, I think fresh works best)
Salt
Pepper
1 tsp Olive Oil (or oil of your choice)

Preheat oven to 350

After washing your green beans, place in a bowl and toss with olive oil. Then add Salt and Pepper to taste.

Spread onto a baking sheet, and bake for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes flip the green beans and bake for another 10 minutes.

Let cool, and enjoy!

*Depending on how many green beans you use, you may need more oil. Last night we used a small size bag and the 1 tsp of Olive Oil was plenty.

Now for the best part, the points! If you were to eat the whole entire batch of Green Bean Fries it would only be 1 point!!! I could probably eat them all, but I have to share with the family!

KBeaner loves these as well! They're a great idea if you have a picky eater on your hands.

staying on track?

So I'm starting to get annoyed with myself, I keep saying I'm going to get fully back on track.. and well then I don't! I am still making OK choices but I'm not making the best choices, and I'm making some bad choices as well.

On Valentine's Day I had a slumber party at my friend's house since my fiance was going to be working very late. It was of course a ton of fun, and the kiddos had such a great time! We went for an hour long walk during the day which was a great choices but then I had a good amount of Chinese food and champagne after bedtime! We did however have a make shift dance party haha so I guess that's a good choice right?

Does playing Darts count as exercise??

I did alright with my eating most of the weekend, I tracked it all but went into my weekly extra points every day. Then yesterday I gave into a craving I've been having for a few weeks now... a Rodeo Burger from a diner nearby... its a big burger, with cheese, onion ring and BBQ sauce, and of course I had fries. I had that yesterday for lunch, it did taste great at the time, but after I felt awful, I was overly full and just felt like crap. I had lunch around 1pm and didn't feel better until 7:30pm! That burger was def. not worth all the stomach pain and general malaise! I'm hoping that the feeling of disgust will help me not have any more greasy food cravings for awhile!

Now I only have 3 weekly extra points to get me to Wednesday, I think this will force me to make good choices, if I don't make the good choices well I'll see a gain on Wednesday. I may even see a gain on Wednesday even if I make great choices the next few days. I'll be the only one to blame. I'm really hoping that I won't gain and that I'll be able to kick myself into making better choices and getting back on track again with out having to gain weight! Oh well it will be what it will be...

How do you get yourself to stay on track, when you are not feeling it?

Weigh In Day

Its Wednesday so that means its weigh in day! Glad to say I maintained this week!

I tried to workout more this past week, and get back to the basics of Weight Watchers. I did pretty well, I ate all my extra weekly points though...I just want CARBS and more carbs!

I am so ready for warm weather! I'll get to play outside more with KBeaner, there is more fresh produce around, I can't wait for the farmer's market! In the summer I'm not all about heavy carbo-loaded meals, I happily eat salad everyday! I need to get into the summer mindset now...

Maybe I should start browsing all of the fun summer clothes that I will be able to wear this year and not feel super self conscious!!

What do you do when you're stuck in the winter blahs?

Homemade Laundry Detergent!

My friend Julie and I decided we would try our hands at making our own Homemade Laundry Detergent. I think we've all seen them on Pinterest, but do they really work? is it really that easy to make?

Well it is super easy to make, and the detergent really works!! It even took out a dried blood stain!

I found the original recipe here, it called for Ivory soap or Fels Naptha, we used Dial.

Ingredients
1 c Borax
1 c Washing Soda (found near the laundry detergent)
1 Bar of Soap (grated, you can use the small grater or a larger size grater)

First grate your bar of soap....

Then mix in the 1 cup of Borax and 1 cup of Washing Soda. Mix well.

Transfer to another container, we used plastic baggies this time. (When I make more I am going to put them in an old mason jar.)

Make sure to label your container well, and keep it out of reach from children.

Now you're ready to do some laundry! 1 TBSP for normal size loads, and 2 TBSP for large loads.

Let me know if you try this out and how you like it!

I plan on making more Homemade Laundry Detergent, and I am excited to try out other "recipes" for body wash and hand soap!

do you have a "fat" day?

It's Wednesday, which means it's weigh in day! If you read my previous post you'll know that I was concerned about this weigh in. I overate and drank too many drinks this weekend, I mean it was the Super Bowl.

Well this morning I am shocked to say... I'm 156 lbs!!  I woke up my fiance and made him read the scale to make sure  I wasn't going crazy! Thankfully I wasn't going crazy, and I am 156 lbs, I lost 3 lbs this week!  Even though I slipped up this weekend, Monday and Tuesday I stuck to the Weight Watcher's plan, and only had my daily points (29) it was hard but worth it!

I guess I needed a "fat" day (or two), I had heard on the Doctor Oz Show before that you should have a "fat" day every week because  "going off your diet once in a while stimulates the thyroid gland and can “wake up” your metabolism" you can see the full article here. I'm not sure if that's why I lost the weight or if it was just dumb luck...either way, I'm not complaining! Do any of you have a "fat" day?

So I know the last time that I was 156 lbs... Its embarrassing and sad, but true 7th grade! I remember getting weighed for gym class or something, and telling one of my super skinny friends how much I weighed. I was really upset about it, and she said "It's alright just stay at this weight, most adults are that weight, so just stay the same until you grow up." Ugh I wish I had done that. At least I am on my way to getting even healthier.

Just because I lost weight having cheat foods this weekend, I don't plan on doing that again for a while. I am trying to get back into working out, yesterday I did this workout from thehautebunny.wordpress.com, its a Brazilian butt workout and oh man did it work my booty out!!! It burned during, and this morning I am def. feeling it! I'm going to try to do at least a short workout each day. I did some planks, and push ups today already, and I attempted to do a pull up... yeah it was pretty funny, maybe one day I'll be able to do one!

Hope you're feeling motivated to eat healthier and workout, I know I am!

Also check in later this week, my friend and I are going to try to make our own laundry detergent!

Slipped and fell, but getting back up.

Hope you had a fun time this weekend, and enjoyed the Super Bowl!!

I'm not a huge fan of football, but I do enjoy good food and good times with  good friends! I enjoyed myself a little too much this weekend... oops did not stay on track.
Look at all that yummy food... ps those are my Skinny Cinnamon Rolls!

cheers!
I had too many  drinks, which made me want more drinks, and snacks. Ya know when you have too many drinks its hard to keep track of points! I did have a great time though! Next time I'll have to bring my little notebook around and keep track of the drinks and their points.

I know I said last week that  I had to go back to the basics and get back on track, I'm going to keep trying to do that. So far today I've done pretty well, I just need to take it one day at a time. If you slip and fall you have to get up again! Today I was tempted to buy some chips at the store since I had already eaten so poorly this weekend, but I told myself "No, I want to get back on track", not going to lie it was hard, but I know I can do it, and will do it! I am hoping weigh in will go well this week, but I am ready to see a gain.

Ballerina Birthday!

KBeaner had her Ballerina Birthday Party last weekend! I think it was a huge success!! KBeaner said it was "best party ever!!". We had yummy cupcakes and we borrowed a bouncy house from a friend so the kids were able to get all their energy out!

Here is the invitation, click here for the tutorial!

I made a "Happy Birthday" Banner!

The snacks/drinks/cupcake table KBeaner was sneaking in Chex Mix!

I made Utensil Holders with tin cans, scrap book paper, tulle and ribbon. The cupcakes are Funfetti with white frosting that I used food coloring in to make bright pink.

Here are the party favors. KBeaner picked them out: Stickers, toy watches with that has a little metal ball that you try to put into a little hole (I have no idea what that game is called) and a sugar cookie with a "K" on them in pink of course!
Blowing out the candles!

I made KBeaners Tutu Skirt, and her hair pretty. The necklace she is wearing is one that was mine when I was little!

All in all it was a great party! I can't believe my baby is 3!!
